CRIMINAL LAW
R v L – December 2019
Simon represented a defendant charged with armed robbery following a knifepoint carjacking. The client was acquitted following successful legal argument.
Operation Shirin – August 2018-July 2019
Simon was instructed as junior counsel, led by Barnaby Shaw. This case involved four trials arising from an investigation into people smuggling and money laundering in the South East of England. Simon dealt with one of the trials alone.

R v L – May 2019
Instructed to prosecute the knife point robbery of two taxi drivers.
R v K – May 2019
Instructed to represent a client facing an allegation of s. 20 GBH following a glassing incident. Acquitted.
R v L and G – May 2019
Instructed to prosecute a robbery of an elderly man in his home involving an imitation firearm.
R v B – April 2019
Represented a young client with mental health difficulties facing charges of wounding with intent following a stabbing. Acquitted.
R v A – March 2019
Instructed to represent a client facing multiple counts of travel insurance fraud.
R v H – August 2018
Prosecuted a registered firearms dealer for offences including the possession of prohibited weapons.
R v O – May 2018
Instructed to defence in a case concerning possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Acquitted.
R v B – February 2018
Instructed to represent a young defendant with mental health difficulties facing a count of s. 20 GBH. Acquitted.
R v M – January 2018
Instructed to represent a man facing counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, who was acquitted.
R v Baqir and others – May 2017
Simon acted as junior counsel in the successful prosecution of a drug related murder in Norwich. Led by Andrew Shaw.

Operation Forge – April 2016 and November 2017
Acted as junior counsel in the prosecution of an organized crime group that was importing and supplying millions of pounds worth of Class A drugs. In total, nine defendants were convicted. Led by Andrew Shaw. Simon dealt with the second trial alone following Andrew’s appointment to the Circuit Bench.
R v M and others – June 2017
Successful prosecution of three defendants from Ireland for conspiracy to burgle dwellings.
R v A – November 2016
Simon acted for a man accused of sexual activity with a child.
R v A – August 2016
Successful prosecution of a conspiracy to commit theft of high end cycles from train stations in the Home Counties.
REGULATORY LAW
NMC v F – November 2019
Instructed by the Royal College of Nursing to represent the manager of a care home who had contributed to the death of patient as a result of inadequate moving and handling procedures. The case also involved multiple failings relating to CQC inspections. The nurse involved avoided being struck off.
GMC v AS – July 2019
Simon successfully represented a GP at the General Medical Council, who was alleged to have sexually assaulted a colleague.
HCPC v M – June 2019
Instructed to prosecute a Social Worker regarding a Special Guardianship Order that was approved, where the guardian went on to murder the child protected by the Order.
NMC v P – June 2018
Instructed by the Royal College of Nursing to represent a senior nurse who was alleged to have contributed to the decline in health of an elderly patient.
NMC v B and R – March 2018
Instructed to prosecute two mental health nurses who had been involved in circumstances surrounding the death of a patient.
NMC v Mid Kent and Medway Trust – January 2017
Simon was instructed to prosecute eight nurses involved in the death of a vulnerable patient in their care. This case involved expert from four disciplines giving evidence regarding complex causation issues.
NMC v H – October 2016
Simon prosecuted a midwife who was struck off for her role in the death of a baby hours after its birth.
HCPC v H – February 2017
Simon was instructed to prosecute a Social Worker who had neglected to fulfil her duties in respect of her caseload of vulnerable children.
NMC v W – August 2016
Simon represented a nurse who faced multiple allegations stemming from inside and outside of the UK. The registrant was allowed to continue to practise unrestricted following this hearing.
HCPC v D – January 2016
Simon prosecuted an educational psychologist in a complex case involving the inappropriate use of psychometric tools during an autism assessment. This was a complex case involving contested expert evidence.
HCPC v B – November 2015
Simon represented the HCPC in a case against a physiotherapist regarding the use of ill-chosen treatment techniques.
HCPC v R – December 2015
Simon successfully prosecuted a case involving a music therapist who was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable service user.
