Alison Gurden acts for Roma fan in extradition and criminal proceedings

Alison Gurden recently assisted in making representations to the Italian Supreme Court on the case of an Italian National subject to a European Arrest Warrant, who faced charges in England and Wales which carried 10 years in custody. Further to being arrested and extradited from Italy last month, Simone Mastrelli pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to attacking Liverpool Fan Sean Cox, who was left with brain injuries, before Liverpool played Roma last April. Alison Gurden, mitigating, said he was a family man himself and was "distraught" at the suffering he had caused. Mastrelli entered a guilty plea to unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Cox.
Alison worked on securing assurances from the UK in relation to the charges prior to his extradition, resulting in the client being sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment. For more information see press reports below:
