Alison Gurden successfully defends AS Roma fan charged with GBH at Anfield Champions League semi-final

22 October 2018

Alison Gurden recently concluded a five day trial at Preston Crown Court concerning an AS Roma fan accused of Grievous Bodily Harm on a Liverpool FC fan at the Champions League semi final at Anfield in April 2018. In mitigation, Alison Gurden said: “Mr Lombardi has a background of someone who, since he was a young man, has been very responsible and very hard-working,” she said. He had undergone a “huge maturity increase” during nearly six months in prison awaiting trial.

Mr Lombardi was acquitted after the jury of six men and six women found him not guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm by a majority verdict after deliberating for just under nine hours. He pleaded guilty to a violent disorder charge relating to the same incident at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 3 years in custody for that offence.
