Barnaby Hone successful in Court of Appeal

11 September 2019

Barnaby Hone recently appeared in the Court of Appeal representing the Royal Mail Group (the prosecuting authority). The appeal centred on a sentence imposed by HHJ Darling at Blackfriars Crown Court in November 2018, further to the defendant being found guilty of a multitude of forgery, counterfeiting and money laundering charges. The defendant was found to be in control of 3.6 million forged stamps with an estimated value of £2.2million.

The court found that the prosecution had operated correctly throughout and that the lower sentence was fair. See this link for the full transcript of the Judgment.
