Joanne Eley recently secured the conviction of a 25 year old Harlow resident, Ebbs Artez. The Court heard how Artez approached a vulnerable woman outside a bar, led her through the town centre and attempted to rape her in a car park. The woman described her ordeal in a statement to Police, stating “I had gone on a night out with my friends and then we got in a taxi to go home, but we shared it with a man who was OK at first but then got aggressive and pinned me up against a wall in a car park by my wrists'."
Investigating officer, DC Lisa Stevenson, said: “Artez targeted a vulnerable woman and subjected her to a terrifying attack. He then denied doing anything wrong and put her through the ordeal of giving evidence. Thankfully the jury have seen through his lies and I hope the verdict will give the victim some comfort.”
