John McNally successfully concludes sexual assault trial

5 August 2015

John McNally recently represented a Grandfather at Stafford Crown Court. The defendant was acquitted of 13 counts of serious sexual assault on a child relative, said to have begun when she was 7. Other counts were withdrawn by the Crown upon the defence submission that the Court’s jurisdiction to try the allegations could not be proven (although the evidence was admitted at trial as ‘bad character’). After a five day trial the jury rapidly acquitted the defendant. Reporting restrictions remain in place.
