Karim Khalil QC successfully prosecutes brothers involved in ‘gangland execution’

Karim Khalil QC concluded a three week murder trial at Birmingham Crown Court today. The trial involved brothers Anib Khan and Harras Khan, both found guilty of murder, and accomplice Nahima Begum. Begum (Anib Khans girlfriend) was found guilty to assisting an offender further to her actions in driving him to Dover in a failed bid to escape arrest.
Georgina Davies, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said the shooting resulted from a "drug feud". "This was a premeditated killing carried out by the defendants discharging a gun in a residential area," she said. CCTV showed the brothers gesture to the victim Taimoor Zaheer to follow them to nearby Maxwell Avenue, where they got a shotgun from a parked van and shot him at "point-blank range".
Anib Khan was sentenced to 32 years, Harras Khan to 29 years and Nahima Begum to 15 months for assisting Anib Khan to try and leave the country. For more information on the trial and sentencing, see press links below:
