Mark Spalding speaks at Bar Council Legal Aid Billing Seminar
12 September 2019
Our consultant fees manager, Mark Spalding, has been invited to speak at a forthcoming seminar presented by the Bar Council. The aim of the seminar series is to help fees clerks in billing Legal Aid matters correctly first time. Mark joins a panel including Elisabeth Cooper of the Legal Aid Agency and Hesham Puri of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association.
The Bar Council describes the aim of the seminar programme thus:
“In conjunction with expert representatives from the Legal Aid Agency and specialist publicly-funded chambers and solicitors' associations/firms, the Bar Council will be hosting three events in September and October of this year, each of which has been designed to assist barristers and their clerks with legal aid fee claiming in the areas of crime, family and immigration. Chaired by Adrian Vincent, the Bar Council's Head of Legal Practice and Remuneration Policy, each of our panels will cover topics such as best practice in legal aid billing and reducing the chances of rejection; provide an overview of the nature and commonality of errors made in claim forms; and discuss effective administration, quality control and what the Legal Aid Agency are doing to better their own processes.”
