Richard Heller secures convictions in four week environmental health prosecution

Instructed by the Environmental Health Service at the London Borough of Newham, Richard Heller recently secured convictions in a highly technical fatal food-poisoning case. Over the course of a four week trial, the jury heard from experts in epidemiology from Public Health England, in addition to experts in microbiology and food safety. The defendants were convicted of supplying unsafe food, as the caterers at a community event which caused illness in at least 30-40 people including the hospitalisation of three, one of whom subsequently died. Sentence has been adjourned.
