Richard Heller speaks at 2017 Food Law Conference

Having accepted an invitation to speak at the 2017 Food Law Conference, Richard Heller joined other leading practitioners and figures from the food law sector including David Travers QC, Claudine Lefebvre of Ashbury Labelling, Sian Edmunds of Burgess Salmon and Dr Lisa Ackerley from The Public Health Company Ltd to speak on a range of new topics, both contentious and non-contentious.

Richard spoke on the Sentencing Council’s Definitive Guideline on the sentencing of ‘Health and Safety Offences, Corporate Manslaughter and Food Safety and Hygiene Offences’, addressing the process for sentencing organisations and individuals, how to resolve differences of opinion on culpability and harm and whether the anticipated step change in sentencing practice had come to pass.
