Wayne Cleaver, leading Joanne Eley, secures conviction in a “merciless and callous” Murder.

Wayne Cleaver, leading Joanne Eley, successfully presented the prosecution case during a recent Murder trial. The offence was committed in unusual circumstances. The defendant, a one-legged amputee, deliberately used his car as a weapon to target and run-down the deceased following a long-running petty dispute between them. The incident was partially captured on CCTV but also relied upon the disputed testimony of the front seat passenger who was accused of being responsible for the fatal collision. There were numerous vulnerable witnesses from the homeless community themselves requiring very careful witness management during the trial. In describing the offence as “a brutal and merciless killing … literally crushing the life out of her” the Trial Judge imposed life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years.
