WAYNE CLEAVER, LEADING PHILIP FARR, SECURE A CONVICTION FOR A ‘BRUTAL AND SAVAGE’ MURDER

R v Heinbergs (Operation Gatenby) - Wayne Cleaver, leading Philip Farr, secured a conviction at Norwich Crown Court for an horrific Murder committed in the city centre in June 2018. The defendant randomly selected and stalked the victim before ferociously attacking him with a knife inflicting 13 separate stab wounds severing many of the vital organs. The defendant had only three weeks before been given a suspended sentence for carrying two knives. Described by the Trial Judge as bearing “all the hallmarks of an execution” the entirely unprovoked murder was committed at a time when violent knife crime is increasing such that the defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum tariff of 28 years. Wayne and Philip were instructed by Norfolk CCU supported by officers from the Major Incident Team.
