Lisa White-Bowles

Call 2023

Lisa has a broad criminal practice encompassing both prosecution and defence. She is a RASSO-appointed advocate and regularly instructed in cases involving serious and sensitive allegations.

She completed her pupillage with the Crown Prosecution Service as a member of the Crown Advocacy Team, where she gained extensive experience in reviewing evidence, making charging decisions and conducting advocacy. This background gives her detailed insight into the prosecution process from initial review through to trial.

Lisa is regularly instructed by the CPS to prosecute Crown Court trials. Her experience includes cases involving domestic abuse, burglary, assault, indecent images of children, stalking, harassment and dangerous dogs. She is also frequently instructed in Home Office prosecutions, including facilitation, endangerment and illegal entry offences, including small boats cases.

Lisa is known for combining strong advocacy with a thorough and pragmatic approach to case preparation. Her experience within the CPS gives her particular insight into the way prosecution cases are assessed, prepared and presented at trial.

Recent instructions on behalf of the defence have included administering a noxious substance, threats to kill, controlling and coercive behaviour, possession with intent to supply, and ABH.

Lisa is accredited to accept cases via the Public Access Scheme, and can accept instructions in appropriate types of cases directly from members of the public. She has a particular interest in road traffic law and represents clients across a wide range of motoring offences. Her areas of expertise include speeding, totting-up, drink and drug driving, careless and dangerous driving, and allegations of causing serious injury by careless or dangerous driving. She provides practical advice and robust representation, with a strong emphasis on ensuring her clients understand both the legal issues in their case and the potential consequences of the proceedings.

Lisa is a mentor for Bar students through the mentoring scheme run by Gray’s Inn and serves on the Inn’s GDL and Bar Course scholarship panels. She also assists with the Inn’s student advocacy training and qualifying sessions.
