Another terrific trading standards annual conference – hats off to the organisers!

Drystone Chambers is delighted to have participated in the superbly organised Chartered Trading Standards Institute’s Annual Conference held over three days from the 20th June 2023 at the Eastside Rooms conference center in Birmingham.  Andrew Price delivered an insightful talk on the opening day of the conference focusing on ‘vulnerable witnesses’ and offering practical information in relation to changes to practice, procedure and legislation. Some key points highlighted by Andrew included:

• Who is a vulnerable witness?
• What changes to gathering evidence from these witnesses must be made?
• How is their evidence presented differently at Court?
• What impact does the s.28 hearing procedure have on disclosure?

It was a real pleasure to see so many familiar faces in the audience as well as many new ones, and we are looking forward to putting on another insightful seminar in Leeds next year!
