Christopher Wing is a highly skilled criminal law barrister with over 37 years’ experience.
Christopher is a Grade 4 Prosecution counsel and on the RASSO panel. He has considerable expertise in sexual offences involving vulnerable witnesses and has delivered training on the vulnerable witness course to for the Western Circuit.
He has undertaken training for International Criminal Court and has been admitted to the list of defence counsel. Christopher has undergone the training for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and has also advised on the status on the status of Indian prisoners of war for an application to the Indian Supreme Court in Delhi.
In addition to his criminal practice, Christopher has considerable working knowledge of Military Law and has regularly appeared in the Military Court in both the UK and abroad.
As a prominent junior with in-depth experience covering all areas of criminal law, Christopher has been instructed as a junior for both the prosecution and defence in four murder cases.
In these cases, he undertook a detailed analysis of the evidence and unused evidence, the assist his leading counsel. The latter of these cases included three full days scrutinising a vast amount of unused material held by Hampshire Police.

Junior counsel for the crown in this case that involved scrutiny of large amounts of unused material at the police station as well as detailed analysis of the evidence to assist my leader the late Matthew Jewell QC.
Christopher is predominantly instructed by the prosecution in cases involving a defendant who has been subject to the National Crime Referral Mechanism and has a deep understanding of the defence under section 45 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Christopher is appointed to the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Panel (RASSO) and is regularly instructed to prosecute sexual offences.
He is frequently instructed in both the Crown Court and Military Courts and has expertise in dealing with vulnerable witnesses.

Prosecution case in Basildon Crown Court that involved allegation of sexual assault by a Defendant with learning difficulties upon fellow pupils in a ‘special needs’ school.
As a member of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) Panel for the CPS, Christopher is frequently instructed to both prosecute and defend is cases of this nature and is well-experienced in handling such cases sensitively.
Prosecuted historic case with allegations dating back to 1960’s up to 2016 across 3 generations of one family, had to deal sensitively with witnesses over a wide range of ages. Scrutinised evidence with care to ensure charges were under the correct Act. i.e. 1956 or 2003.
Prosecuted a case of sexual abuse of a young girl by her step father, over a prolonged period, which involved allegations that occurred in the UK and dealt with at Cambridge Crown Court and allegations in Germany that were dealt with in the military Court at Catterick.
Currently prosecution historic sexual allegations from 2011 complaint made in 2018, have had to deal with complex disclosure issues relating to mobile phones and medical and Social Service records.
In 2017 prosecuted a gang involved in supplying class A drugs in north London, had to view extensive phone and ANPR data.
Currently leading the prosecution in a multi-handed trial involving a gang stealing parts of motor vehicles across the south of England, 8 defendants in all.
Christopher has regularly appeared in the Military Courts in both the UK and abroad in Germany and Cyprus, in cases of all levels, from Theft and Fraud to section 18 Wounding and Rape.
Defended Lt Cmdr on charge of credit card fraud.
Defended Fijian soldier on child cruelty case.
Defended RAF Cpl instructor on rape charges.
Travelled to Germany to defend service family member on assault charge in Service Civilian Court.
Prosecuted 2 rape trials in the Military Courts, most recently in 2020, as offences occurred in Germany. Crown Court had no jurisdiction, had previously prosecuted the defendant in the Cambridge Crown court for offences against the same victim that took place in UK. Sought and obtained Attorney General’s approval to pursue case.
Christopher is experienced in representing people who have Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPO).
Have dealt with these many times in the course of trials/pleas in sex cases, consequently have acquired an in depth understanding of the Court of Appeal authorities on the extent and limitations of such orders.
Christopher is experienced in applying for and resisting Community Protection Orders.
Prosecuted death by dangerous driving case in which there were 4 fatalities. The defendant also had mental health problems and there was a fitness to plead issue.
I kept the bereaved families informed of the progress of the case and explained to them the court process and what had happened in the hearings I was commended for this by the then chief crown prosecutor.
Christopher often feature at the conclusion of drugs cases, and have dealt with many confiscation hearings, which usually are settled at court.
Christopher is list counsel at the ICC (International Criminal Court) and has undertaken the training for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon,and have attended training sessions for both in The Hague.
As an experienced and capable advocate, Christopher has undertaken both defence and prosecution cases.
Am currently prosecuting a case where false soil samples were submitted for analysis thereby concealing high levels of lead in the ground of 2 new build houses to facilitate their sale, but when discovered the houses were unsaleable until extensive work had been carried out.
Prosecuted a care worker who stole clients bank cards and used them for herself, involved detailed analysis of banking and telephone records.
Back in 2015 I gave a written advice upon the status of Indian prisoners of war who were captured in the India – Pakistan war of 1971. I was asked if there was a remedy for their families, at the International Court of Justice in the Hague. I advised that there wasn’t but they did make an application to the Indian Supreme Court to try and compel the Indian Government to take the case to the Hague, I was present in court for this hearing.
In 2021 I prosecuted a misconduct in public office trial which involved a police officer who had an affair with a vulnerable woman who was a witness in a case he was investigating. On my advice a statement was taken from the victim, which got round many hearsay objections and lead to the Defendant entering acceptable guilty pleas.
