Malik Aldeiri

Malik qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has practised as a Higher Court Advocate since 2008. He recently transferred to the Bar.

Over the years Malik has represented clients in a range of matters heard in both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court. He deals with serious and complicated cases. 

Malik is a solicitor qualified to act in the Crown Court. He has a thriving defence practice, both as a led junior and junior alone. Renowned for his fearlessness in court and friendliness outside the court room, he is highly valued by lay and professional clients alike.

His experience has seen him successfully defend clients in a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from murder, serious violence, drugs, sexual offences, fraud, dishonesty offences and public disorder. He demonstrates sound judgment and an ability to put even the most anxious clients at ease, building rapport with people from all backgrounds and cultures. As a result, he is regularly instructed on difficult cases involving vulnerable clients and those with mental health difficulties whose case requires an extra degree of empathy and sensitivity.

Malik’s knowledge of the law and procedure allows him to provide clear, effective advice, which has contributed to successful outcomes in several high-profile cases. He takes care to ensure his clients fully understand the case against them and tailors his guidance to their individual needs.

He has obtained positive outcomes for his clients over the years and is regularly recommended by both his past and present clients. He is instructed by both private and legally aided clients. Regardless of the situation, Malik provides his clients with an honest and dedicated service and fights to achieve the best outcome possible.

As well as representing clients in both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court, Malik regularly advises individuals detained at the police station for interview. He also undertakes pro bono work and will try to help those that either have no representation or cannot get any.

Malik is fluent in Arabic.

Malik’s personal interests include keeping fit, cinema and football (being involved as a player manager for an amateur Saturday league football team).

[July/August 2026] Central Criminal Court

Currently representing a defendant at the Old Bailey charged with attempted murder. The trial is listed to last 6 weeks. Malik is leading Anisa Kebbati from Drystone Chambers.

Trial listed in 2026

Malik is instructed as junior counsel, led by King’s Counsel, in a trial due to commence towards the end of 2026, involving the murder of a 12 year old child. Malik’s adult client is charged with a Youth.

Trial listed in 2027 at Nottingham Crown Court

Malik is instructed as junior counsel, led by King’s Counsel in a trial due to commence in Nottingham in early 2027. Malik’s client is charged with Arson with Intent to Endanger Life and Possession of a Firearm, and the case is linked to proceedings under the Terrorism Act 2000. The defendant is jointly charged with another, but is part of a wider conspiracy with other defendants being tried earlier.

Malik is instructed in a multi-handed Aggravated Burglary case listed for trial in early 2027. The case involves multiple defendants and a significant amount of telephone/cell-site evidence. He is representing a man of good character.

Malik is instructed privately to represent a defendant charged with GBH. The defendant is jointly charged with others. The defence being advanced is one of self-defence and involves the careful analysis of CCTV and unused material.

The alleged victim is the daughter of a serving police officer and issues have been raised and identified as to the independence of the investigation given the involvement of the complainant’s father. R v V [2026] Central Criminal Court

[July 2026]. Currently representing a defendant at the Old Bailey charged with attempted murder. The trial is listed to last 6 weeks. Malik is leading Anisa Kebbati from Drystone Chambers.

R v MLC Central Criminal Court

Malik, led by Jeremy Dein KC. successfully represented the defendant charged with murder.

R v AA

Acquitted of murder.

R v AR

Acquitted of murder.

R v SL [2021] Court of Appeal

SL was sentenced to life in prison for murder. Malik appeared on behalf of SL at the Court of Appeal and successfully appealed the minimum term originally imposed. He was able to argue that the original sentencing Judge had misapplied the correct starting point and failed to take account of the individual circumstances of this particular individual. The sentence was reduced.

R v A [2020]

Alleged Gang Murder. Malik Aldeiri, led by Anand Beharrlyal QC successful represented A, a youth charged with Murder. A was part of a group of individuals who the prosecution alleged were involved in the planning and deliberate targeting of the victim. A was alleged to be part of the group involved and lent support to the primary attacker. This was a typical example of a joint enterprise case which A was said to be a huge part of. We carried out substantial preparation to ensure acquittal of our client.

Notable Sexual Offences cases

R v JB

Acquitted of marital rape.

R v AA [2021]

Malik represented a young man charged with possession of indecent images. The offences happened when AA was a youth, but he was convicted as an adult. Malik argued that the delay in proceedings meant that he was not able to be sentenced as a youth and that, although now an adult, the court must consider the likely sentence he would have received as a youth. He was able to successfully argue that in this case the appropriate sentence was a conditional discharge. Malik demonstrated an understanding of dealing with vulnerable young people and the complexity of those that cross over from being children to adults during the criminal process.

Notable Drugs and Money Laundering cases

R v Cooper [2025] Croydon Crown Court

Represented a defendant in a conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. This was a multi-handed case in which the 2 lead defendants were convicted and received sentences in excess of 20 years each. The defendant was found not guilty. She was a vulnerable adult and Malik’s approach put the defendant at ease and was able to represent her best interests.

In separate proceedings, she was sentenced to a Suspended Sentence for Perverting the Course of Justice.

R v

Malik represented a defendant in respect of a multi-handed drugs conspiracy operation, in which it was said that the defendant’s role was leading. Malik successfully argued at a subsequent Newton hearing that the defendant’s role was insignificant. The Learned Judge agreeing with the evidence and representations made.

R v CC

Acquitted of major drug conspiracy involving in excess of 25KG. On a separate count of Perverting the Course of Justice, very compelling reasons were successfully argued for the imposition of a Suspended Sentence.

R v EW [2019]

Represented EW charged with possession with intent to supply 9 Kilos of MDMA with an estimated street value of £500,000. Successfully got EW bail at the magistrates court, despite strong opposition from the police. Followed up in the Crown Court with a successful application to dismiss.

R v J

County lines Drugs charge dropped. Malik represented J, a youth charged with county line drugs supply. Malik was able to demonstrate by working with the single competent authority (SCA) and the youth offending team (YOT) that he had been exploited and been a victim of modern slavery. Successful representations were then made to the CPS who accepted the defence evidence and subsequently dismissed the charges.

Notable Additional Serious Cases cases

R v Youell [2026] Central Criminal Court

Instructed as second Junior in an 8-week trial at the Old Bailey. This was a retrial following a discharge of the original jury (due to disclosure issues identified). The case involved several defendants charged with conspiracy to facilitate the entry of illegal migrants. The case was investigated by the NCA.

R v AS

Acquitted of GBH (S18) and Possession of a Knife.

R v [2021] Willesden Magistrates' Court

Drunk in charge of vehicle dropped by CPS. The defendant was stopped outside his house by the police on his shared car parking during lockdown. He was having a quiet drink with his friend as the pubs were closed and his friend could not go into his house due to restrictions. Territorial support group offices spotted the vehicle late at night and conducted a search. Our client was arrested for drink-driving offences and drunk in charge of his vehicle. There was no likelihood of him driving until he was fully sober. Officers did not listen to him and he was taken to the station and charged. Malik argued the statutory defence under the law where it was clear on all the facts that his client had no intention to drive. He prepared for trial and obtained an expert report which confirmed our client’s history of alcohol consumption. The expert supported the defence that his client was unlikely to be intoxicated by the time he next intended to drive. Malik made strong written representations on behalf of his client to the CPS in writing. As a result of the strong written arguments and representation made, the prosecution dropped the case and did not prosecute. His client maintained his good character and job.

Willesden & Brent Court [2021]

Malik acted at Willesden and Brent Court for a client charged with possession of a knife during an incident where it was alleged, he brandished this knife towards the other party. Our client was forwarding the defence of self-defence. Malik was able to discredit the witness account, and the case was dismissed on a submission of no case to answer on the close of the CPS case. The case was excellently prepared. Our client was a family man of good standing in the community. The starting point for this case had his client been convicted would have been custody and he would have lost his job.
