Recruitment

Join Us - Applications for tenancy

Drystone Chambers is looking to recruit new tenants and welcomes applications to join Chambers from outstanding practitioners or groups of practitioners of proven excellence at all levels of call and from those who may be returning to practice after a career break.

Drystone Chambers is the Chambers of Allison Summers KC, a specialist criminal set based in London, but with members undertaking work nationwide. We have a significant amount of high quality crown court work in the regions in which we regularly appear, namely in London and on the South Eastern (including East Anglia), Midland and Western Circuits in our core practice areas of:

• General crime

• Local Authority and Trading Standards

• Regulatory and Professional Discipline

Our members defend and prosecute across the spectrum of offences and in the most serious of cases. We have considerable work involving serious sexual offences and as such barristers on the RASSO list or with substantial experience representing the defence would be especially of interest. Our silks are often back to back on cases of homicide and other grave crimes, usually leading our own juniors. If you are in silk and thinking of moving sets, whether you are based in London or on circuit, we would be very interested in speaking to you.

We are one of only 5 criminal sets appointed Panel Membership of the LBLA (London Borough's Legal Alliance - over 25 Local Authorities) for Criminal Litigation/Prosecutions and we received the highest spend of all the criminal panel chambers in 2021. If local authority prosecution work is of interest, we have the framework in place to help you develop in this area.

As a Chambers we are friendly and approachable with a welcoming collegial atmosphere. We are supported by a team of experienced and dedicated clerks who will help you to develop and shape your practice, a separate management and finance team and separate billing and fee collection department.

How we stand out from the crowd:

• Financial stability
• A competitive percentage only rent
• Rent adjustment periods
• A 5% lower rent rate for Members under 5 years call
• Skilled, knowledgeable, and considerate clerks
• An effective billing and fee collection team and separate management team
• Mechanisms in place to ensure you can pay your VAT.

We welcome future tenants who are ambitious, forward thinking and fully committed to succeeding at the Criminal Bar. If that is you, then speak to us now by contacting our Chambers Administrator, Russell Burton-Lawrence on 07971 285 796 or by email at russell.burton-lawrence@drystone.com

Drystone Chambers is committed to diversity and inclusion and we encourage applications from outstanding practitioners from all backgrounds.
