Third-Six Pupillage

We are a leading London-based criminal chambers always willing to consider applications for third-six pupillage with a view to tenancy.

To apply for a third-six, send a covering email with CV attached (limited to 2 pages) including the names of two referees (or attaching two references if they are already obtained), to our Head of Operations, Russell Burton-Lawrence at russell.burton-lawrence@drystone.com.

Drystone Chambers is the Chambers of Allison Summers KC. We are a Legal500 and Chambers and Partners ranked criminal set based in London with high levels of work in London and on circuit. If you live on the Midland, South Eastern or Western circuits and seek to practice on circuit, we are perfectly placed to help you achieve this.

Applicants will have successfully completed, or be about to complete their pupillage but who have yet to secure tenancy.

We seek applications from barristers who have a genuine passion for criminal work and the necessary energy and commitment to succeed at the criminal bar.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake local authority prosecution work – we are one of only 5 criminal sets appointed Panel Membership of the LBLA (London Borough’s Legal Alliance – over 25 Local Authorities) for Criminal Litigation/Prosecutions. We receive a considerable number of instructions each year.  If local authority prosecution work is of interest, we have the framework in place to help you develop this area of work.

Looking ahead to tenancy

  • We do not charge any rent during the first three months of tenancy
  • Members pay a competitive percentage only rent
  • A 5% lower rent rate applies to members under 5 years call
  • We have in place effective billing and fees collection
  • We have an experienced and motivated practice management team who will help you to develop your practice.
