Acquittal in Drive-by Shooting Case

Following a two-week trial at the Central Criminal Court, Ahmed Muen’s client was acquitted of murder and attempted murder in a drive-by shooting case.  Ahmed was led by John Ryder KC and instructed by Jas Virdee of Virdee Solicitors.

Background of the Case

The case was a re-trial, the jury having been unable to reach a verdict at the last trial. The prosecution case was that this defendant was the gun man and the leader of the group who planned a sophisticated and well prepared drive-by shooting, which killed one person and seriously injured another.

Previous Convictions in the Group

Two of the group had already been convicted by a jury at trial. The case was based on extensive CCTV, phone analysis and cell site records.

Defence Strategy and Acquittal

However, through meticulous preparation and reviewing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage the defence team were able to prepare a schedule highlighting the gaps in the CCTV footage.
