Prior to commencing pupillage, Rhys worked as a Police Station Representative and Paralegal at Taylor Haldane Barlex Solicitors. He had conduct of a wide range of criminal cases in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts, with a particular focus on serious violence. He also gained experience in Police Misconduct work, and represented police officers at the police station.
Rhys regularly attended police stations across Essex and Suffolk to represent clients under suspicion of the full range of criminal offences. He gained particular experience representing vulnerable clients and youths.
Rhys studied Law at Lancaster University, before completing the Barrister Training Course LLM at BPP University in Manchester. As part of his LLM, Rhys completed a dissertation analysing the law on Joint Enterprise and the Supreme Court ruling in Jogee.
