Trilby Millett

Trilby Millett has been a member of chambers since 2002 and an associate member since 2014.

She is a very experienced criminal barrister, her practice has spanned the spectrum of serious crime including: fraud, armed robbery, importing / supplying / drugs, rape and child cruelty. She is familiar with handling complex legal issues arising out of public interest immunity, RIPA and legal professional privilege. She is currently employed at the Financial Conduct Authority advising in respect of enforcement action for potential market abuse and insider dealing.

Her expertise includes aspects of civil law in the context of Government litigation and she has developed a sound understanding of judicial review and human rights considerations affecting public and quasi- public bodies.

She advised the FCO, working on the Guantanamo Bay civil litigation, arising out of allegations of Government complicity in unlawful detention and torture. Following on from that she advised the team working with The Detainee Inquiry into detention and torture chaired by Sir Peter Gibson.

She has also advised the MOD during the personal injury litigation arising out of the Iraq war and has advised on unlawful detention and human rights claims against the Borders Agency.
