Former Army major found guilty of attempted murder of ex-wife. Claire Matthews for the Prosecution

24 April 2025

Chilling attempted murder of ex-wife

A woman was left fighting for her life in a country lane, her former husband having driven from over 100 miles away to follow and attack her with a Stanley knife. She was left with serious injuries to her neck and torso.

Claire Matthews, prosecuting this case at Norwich Crown Court, presented the timeline of events pieced together from phone, ANPR, cell site and eye witness evidence to demonstrate Mr Creak’s plan and intention was to kill his former wife. The defendant denied intending to kill or to cause really serious harm, suggesting he had little/no memory of events and was in a dissociative state at the time of the attack.

Verdict

The jury unanimously found the defendant guilty. The case has been adjourned for a dangerousness assessment before the Judge passes sentence in May 2025.
