Jonathan Green represented the head of an organised crime group behind a £20 million cocaine operation

23 December 2025

Jonathan Green represented the head of an Organised Crime Group responsible for importing and distributing an estimated £20 million worth of cocaine. Following an early guilty plea in order to maximise credit, the defendant was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court to a total of 14 years.

Ben Ransome was extradited from Thailand to face charges arising from what Essex Police described as the biggest drugs operation they had ever mounted. After protracted negotiations with the prosecution, Jonathan, instructed by Keith Wood at top London firm Lewis Nedas, managed to reduce the initial charges and the quantities of drugs alleged significantly.

This case illustrates the importance of instructing experienced counsel at an early stage in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.
