Zarif Khan secures a Hospital Order with a Restriction Order at the Old Bailey for ‘One of the most dangerous men ever dealt with’, as described by the psychiatrists at HMP Broadmoor.

Brutal Killing Motivated by Psychosis

27 year-old Abdul Khan killed his neighbour with a sword with voices telling him to “take the knife and stab the watermelon”. Violently attacking him 39 times in 39 seconds. Following a charge for murder, a plea to manslaughter was accepted on the basis of ‘Diminished Responsibility’. Abdul Khan described himself as a “psycho”.

Previous Attempted Murder and Mental Health Misdiagnosis

Abdul Khan had previously attempted to murder another man randomly in the street. He had been misdiagnosed by the mental health services and released. Following a trial, Abdul Khan was convicted for attempted murder.
